WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KCL AND GKT?
GKT (or KCLMS) includes healthcare/medic related subjects (medics, dentists, nurses, physios, biomed, neuroscience etc) - but we welcome players from ALL subjects. Come and ask us about joining! Shameless advertisement: GKTWFC is the larger club, meaning we can cater for a wider variety of footballing talent, we have socials every Weds and our 1st team are in a higher division in both BUCS and LUSL leagues.
WHAT IF I'VE NEVER KICKED A BALL BEFORE?
Many of us joined the club to meet new people and discover a new way to keep fit. Absolutely no experience required, loads had never touched a football before!
WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO APART FROM FOOTBALL?
We have 3 talented and outgoing Social Secretaries who plan various shenanigans including (but not limited to):
- Socials every Weds night in Guy’s Bar - Christmas dinner
- FRESHER’S TOUR in a mystery location, only revealed on arrival
- NAMS TOUR (National Association of Medical Schools), this year in Nottingham.
WE HAVE TO PAY TO JOIN?
We have a £32 joining fee. This is SUBSTANTIALLY less than other clubs! It covers our participation in leagues and ensures your safety as a player (in case injury interferes with your studies).
ACHIEVEMENTS TO DATE?
1st Team:
-Macadam Cup Champions 2018, NAMS Champions 2017 (+ silver medallists 2018 and 4 years in a row leading up to 2017), Varsity Champions 2018, UH Cup Champions 2018, and LUSL Cup finalists 2018, BUCS Cup semi-finalists 2018.
- a long history of success, with league promotions, 7 NAMS titles and several ULU cup titles.
2nd Team:
- after several fantastic seasons in LUSL, they are entering their second season playing in both a BUCS and a LUSL league.
- improved over the year, nurtured many first time players to a great standard, with many being brought up to play for the 1's.
- Previous ULU Cup champions!
WHEN IS TRAINING?
Mondays, 7.30-9pm, at Honor Oak Park (only 15 min from London Bridge train station)
WHEN ARE GAMES?
Both teams play in the BUCS league on Wednesday afternoons and in the LUSL league on Sundays. All matches kickoff around 2pm.
DO WE GET KIT?
We have a set game kit of 16 shirts which are washed after matches, but you will have the chance to order your own kit (trackies, hoodie, training top, rain jacket) with the GKT WFC logo and your name.
